I thought the Orcadian was long ago usurped by the Orkney News ?

Same news but in a sans serif font.

Sorry its been a bit quiet.  We did think we might have a sheep rustling story to break, but it turned out to be someone who had made some winter beating onesies for their flock out of taffeta, and the story got blown out of all proportion when a "bairn" overheard two "Grandpas" talking about it.

As it happens, there was an article about both the weather and the shop.  Its reported in pictures, for those of us over here who are still a bit lexicographically challenged;

Having finally had the chance to review this weeks paper, the headline on the front page reads (in a Do Anal Sin style....)

Ferry Firm Launch Public Survey on New Pentland Firth Service

All e Weekers are encouraged to participate in the survey at www.pentlandferries.co.uk to gauge demand and opinion for a shorter service from Gills to Burwick.  Thursa cheils who are fed up with the traffic at the crossing by the Bistro are also encouraged to complete the survey and help move all that unwanted Thursa traffic out of the town.

This weeks paper headlines with the proposal that Orkney should become a Crown Dependency, like the Channel Isles and the Isle of Man.

A local councillor puts forward the idea in the aftermath of Alec Salmonds failed independence bid.  Councillor Stockan suggests that North Sea oil revenue could easily sustain the economy of Orkney and that Orcadians should be able to shape their own destiny.

Sounds uncannily familiar, except for the bit where the Weegies say that they wil benefit from "their oil"
