Just to be clear.
I think your chatter about the radio show is tip top pure entertainment of the highest order. I have no idea what you are on about but get the gist from all your comments. Don't stop as it is hilarious and very much appreciated.

Tonight it should be 'now music for now people', which is ironic as most of it will be from the 60's or 70's !! Rolling Eyes

Well I feel somewhat deflated to be honest. All this speak of Caithness FM.

Then I see Terry Clarke is 'overdosing on oldies'. Cool but alas it seems the digital age has nothing more for me than MFR & Lord knows what this person is banging on about!

Think you're right there Mike, no digital broadcast for Caithness FM.

You've got to be in the county to experience its delights   Razz

caithness fm is a wee local station run by volunteers we shouldn't expect it to compete with the well-funded pros. i like them - in small doses.  Very Happy

I like Caithness FM too, its a true local radio station. I like the way you can text in or phone and they will happily play a request.

I also find that they play full uncut songs!  Very Happy

I don't know cait it should be fairly simple to broadcast to through the www, I think they'll give it a go when they finish upgrading the studio, hope they do! Very Happy

does broadcasting to the web need much infrastructure? i imagine they would need a continuous upload feed at a decent speed. i don't know what speed you would need or if that speed is available reliably.

does anyone know?

Not sure cait, but I do think they have considered it. with broadband speeds as poor as they are in caithness, it could be sometime before it happens, unfortunately.

You would think that they would notice that the intro tune that they always play at 7pm on a Sunday night has a jump in it near the end?  Any DJ worth their salt would surely notice that, and do something about it.  Or do they not have any DJ's worth their salt?

they do ok for volunteers with no budget to speak of. they play the music they like, not the music that their critics insist they play for no reason at all.

I have made many requests to CFM, and they almost always play them.

I think it is the amateur nature of the station that attracts me to it.! Laughing
