Will you people just stop it!

I canna hold my peace. Shocked

Tesco's carpark today was the saddest place I have ever been. There must have been at least 300 cars (doesn't anyone work anymore?) and not one cool one to be seen anywhere.

Very soon you will be hearing the rumble of cool cars heading sooth, stop me and buy one.  Laughing
mrsbradey

Theres a nice Pontiac Bonneville Custom from 1962 on eBay, fully loaded, one owner, in original condition, nice!!

I'll take that one, how soon can you have it finished? Smile
ducati

These are better: Bonneville is a bit er..big  Shocked

ducati

ducati

Not the Caddy Mrs B, the Plymouth Fury! Sheesh, I'm an artiste, you get what I think you should have. Actually, I see you in the T-Bird with the big motor..That'll even haul with your big ass in it. Shocked
mrsbradey

How very American, Haulin' ass!!!!
RagnarRocks

Not sure why you get so excited about poorly constructed fuel inefficient American cars. Are you sure you're not a wannabe redneck ?
MI16

Dunno about fuel in inefficient, I call converting petrol into 400bhp pretty efficient.
I am not sure about poorly constructed either, that heavy American muscle seems to last the test of time better than our puny euro shitboxes.
Poorly engineered would  be a better description.

Anything you can park in a field for 30 years and then resurrect †gets my vote. Try that with a UK car and you will need a dustpan and brush.

I would say simply and over-engineered.

Oh and yes, I wanna be a redneck. Laughing
ducati

Left hand drive

Some of you may worry about driving a large LHD car in Britain.

It's not a problem for overtaking for instance, just carry a passenger and as you pull over the white line, observe their expression for signs of agitation. Shocked Yeh, it will look something like that!
johno

these two cool enough for you.

my mates son s cars..

ducati

Not really, one is Japanese and has too many doors, the other is an Audi. Laughing

Common mistake, confusing fast or efficient or expensive with cool.
ducati

MI16 will start spamming us with Skodas any minute.  Rolling Eyes

I can honestly say that if I was gifted the lambo I would play with it for a short while then punt it for a cool Car.
Maybe that new Alfa sporty thinge
mrsbradey

I'm sure I could buy several cool cars for the price of the wheels off the Lambo, but like mi16, I would play with it for a couple of weeks, probably long enough to learn how to lip read!!! Laughing
ducati

I can't believe I keep having to do this.

This, is a cool car. About 25 grand in the UK if you're interested.

Unlike the Lambo, you can't break it!

different strokes for different folks.

personally i like cars that actually go round corners.with proper suspension systems , not old fashioned cart springs. and not straight liners .
but each to his own.
johno

heres a pick of my mate Ron,s restoration

they were real rust buckets but good lookers .
this one wont rust now . a full nut s n bolts restoration.

ducati

Kind of a point I made a while ago. The Cresta, is it?, was a poor reflection of the USA cars of the time. Same technology but just a bit shit. And too many doors!

Nothing wrong with the way the '71 Chevelle handles btw.
RagnarRocks

Well if you love those cars so much there's plenty plenty in Havana Cuba I believe they have converts them to run on fuel refined from sugar. I do know they belch black smoke out all over the place .

A lot of them have had Lada engines fitted! Shocked
MI16

at least they will have something cool about them then

ducati

I give up! Sell me one of those immediately. Will £50k cover it?
MI16

i should have thought between 10% and 20% of that figure would suffice
johno

is,nt envy a terrible thing.

Vandal paints penis on £1.5 million Bugatti Veyron on a London Street.

ducati

Ha Ha cool car alert! Mid 60s Ford Falcon coupe Navy Blue, seen today on Castletown to JOG road.  Cool
MI16

That is absolutely disgraceful, where are the pubes and spunk.
And discerning cock drawing needs to have pubes and be spunking

I spotted that falcon at the weekend, looks a bit rough and ready buy yeah cool
ducati

Ha Ha 'nother cool car alert...Fiat X1/9 in Tesco's car park.  Laughing

There was some kind of black Porsche too but I didn't bother looking at that Shocked
ducati

Which brings up an interesting point. If everyone and his brother thinks it's cool, then it can't be. Cool

ducati

Ooh bargain!

http://thumbs2.ebaystatic.com/d/l225/m/mUrnGpieESG9eO2O8D3vToA.jpg

Quicker than pretty much any Italian so called supercar, four seats and a big er..trunk.

Oh it doesn't say, it's a Plymouth GTX, MOPAR madness at it's best.

Wouldn't you like to see that in TESCO's car park? Well.........

A small upgrade I would do, I just noticed it doesn't have power brakes!  Shocked
cait

how much do they want for it?
ducati

Well under 20 grand. To put it into context a similar age and condition E-Type for instance, would be nearer £100k. And there are a lot more E-Types around.
ducati

This is a less desirable late model V12

Yours for £125,000

I'd prefere the GTX at under 20 grand. That was the point of the post.

I have never understood double de-clutching.

Can anyone explain - in English please?
mrsbradey

John Little wrote:

usually a requirement in vehicles fitted with non synchromesh gear boxes,

the process involved depressing the clutch to disengage the drive from the gearbox,

then moving the gear lever from, say first gear into neutral,

then release the clutch, then whilst adjusting the throttle depress the clutch †again,

engage second gear,

then release the clutch to engage drive through the gearbox to the road wheels,

all on the move, and away you go!!

It avoids grating of gears, and excessive wear on components.

Hope that helps!!
John Little

That sounds like something you would have to practice hard on if you wished to be competent t it.

So when I look at the costume dramas on telly and want one of those ovely big old cars I should pause for thought.

They definitely represent a grown up type of driving that I am not sure I would be able to master.

A bit like dancing really - I cannot do that very well as I fall over my own feet.

I consider myself, as many mortal do, to be a decent driver- but I fear that I am spoiled by syncro-mesh.
mrsbradey

It is actually quite pleasing and self satisfying when perfected. Smile
John Little

I imagine much crunching, ratching, loud and discordant noises and wincing!!

Sad
mrsbradey

Could be quite painful to listen to until perfected!

And one could be inflicted with white finger after a period of clumsy or botched gear changes Confused
John Little

Perhaps I shall stick to my Berlingo!
mrsbradey

Probably best idea!
John Little

As the largest budget MPV I have to agree with you.  It has great advantages over a 1920s roadster.

I shall curb my hankering!
mrsbradey

Lots of advantages, like:

A sealed roof and windows.

Working suspension,

Reliable fuel effecient engine,

And........

     .........No starting handle!!!
John Little

You are right - it's my second Berlingo and I think it;'s a great car so probably will get another when the time comes.

Space, headroom. Reliability.

Who needs a statement car?

Ooh John, they are all 'statement' cars. The question is, what statement are you making? Embarassed
John Little

That I need an mpv with a lot of room inside to carry lots of stuff round for all the jobs the boss makes me do?
ducati

That's my excuse for a giant 4x4. Very Happy

Try one of these:

Re-listed due to winning bidder's garage being too small! †Laughing
ducati

Or how about one of these?

For when a 7.3 litre V8 Diesel just doesn't cut it! Cool
