Scottish Natural Heritage magazine.

I don't know how many of you get this magazine sent to you, but if you don't you certainly should.
It's called The Nature of Scotland and I find it to be excellent. I think it's twice a year now, but it could do with being more.
It's free and all you have to do is give them your details, there are no obligations and they don't give your info away, and if you write to them about anything they always get in touch.
The magazine has some superb photographs and interesting articles. It's worth a try and if you don't like it just tell them you don't want it any more.
Get cracking, the latest issue has landed with me today.

Email them at.   customerdetails@snh.gov.uk

Why on earth would you wan't to support this quango?  They will not be content until they have legislated the population out of the country, leaving only themselves and their cohorts, the RSPB.

Don't worry, I don't support them. The magazine is very good and the photos are worth a look.
We applied to them 20 odd years ago for advice and financial help to clean up the dam on our land that was used to collect water and drive the mill. They asked us to fill in a form explaining what condition it was in and what we wanted to achieve. At the time it supported a water-hen each year, several wild mallard, a few passing herons, the occasional pair of swans and thousands of water creatures, tadpoles and newts. It was positively humming with life. It needed cleaning out as the burn washed soil down continually and the monkey flowers and yellow flags were rampant. SNH replied  it sounded OK and to leave it to evolve naturally. It is now completely full of soil, ragwort, water-couch etc, there is no free water for any waterfowl, there are no water creatures and not a puddle big  enough to support tadpoles. It's a complete mess. I have no illusions about SNH or the RSPB, both groups are out for themselves only and  don't appear to care about our environment locally. I particularly detest the fact that they advise ministers when they clearly have no experience.

Thanks for the suggestion.
It's a tenth of a hectare (meaningless measurement to me) which is bigger than my house and garden and part of the lane, so it's a big job.
It could have been a beautiful area if SNH didn't have their collective heads up each other's rectums. They don't get many opportunities to do something really worthwhile and then, as now, they messed up and couldn't give a hoot. If they had their way the whole of this beautiful county would become a land of scrub and rushes.
