Do we still 'believe in God'?

Does God exist?

I do not believe in God, so it is easy for me to answer this question, No God does not exsist!

What say you?
johno

have to agree  .
susie

I know in 'all-that-is-me' that God exists. I'm not sure I can define what that means. I don't go to church although, as a child, I had to. I don't believe in the New Testament and all the Jesus stuff. I swear. I never give to charity. I despise many people. But.......there is this thing somewhere that created EVERYTHING, probably as a joke or a bet. I can make sense of all the magnificent beauty in the natural world by attributing it to God. I cannot make sense of all the horrific things that happen in the world by this method. I was used and abused, from 5 years old until I turned 25, by several different people at different times and in different ways. I see now that they were just plain selfish but were just doing what we all do....getting through life. I've got through without abusing anyone. During the worst 10 years of my life, which I look back on as some sort of psychological horror film, I lived every single day in shame and lied all the time to family and friends to protect the person who was hurting me. I had no strength and no one to help me and yet...here I am.
My pointless and shitty existence has left me with, what I am sure is, a twisted view of life. I don't separate life from death, the two go hand in hand. When I die there will be an end, but I believe that the soul comes back and you try again until it goes right. Then comes eternal peace.
I wish I'd had you lot around in the past, I think you'd have sorted it all out one way or another.

I wish I'd been around to sort 'em out for you too!

I think, thinking of your past as a 'horror' film, is a good way to deal with it!

You say, you make sense of good and beautiful by attributing them to God, you could do the same with the bad and ugly, by atributing them to Satan!

Eternal life? You get me with this one, as i believe, when you die, you are dead! However i would like to be proved wrong!

My overall opinion is that; Man created God, not, God created Man!

Thanks chum, you may well have an idea that even when something nasty is long gone it is comforting to know that someone would have come to the rescue.
I don't believe in the devil, I'm not sure why but I don't believe in Hell except the 'hell' humans have created on Earth.
See you in the future then, right here doing this and wondering why you feel a connection. Spooky.

Susie, your existence is not pointless, your view is bound to reflect what you have been through. Makes you a better person.

I dont believe in any god, never have. Prefer to follow what the earth is doing and work with nature.

Nope doesn't work like that as all the ones you mention are Abrahamic religions get rid of the lot of them.
susie

Since we are talking about gods of all sorts I would like to add that I believe firmly in the old pagan rituals that people used to celebrate together. In particular the ones where they thanked various beings for the food they had eaten, the children born healthy, the passing of people from life to death. I don't like organised religions as I think they just abuse people for their own ends. If you believe in anything then you hold that dear in your heart, whether it be sun, moon, a god, mother nature, money. Everyone to their own. It's the forcing of ideas on to another person that is the devil on earth. I like all of you for your differences, we make a wobbly but wonderful circle.

I don't believe there is a "god" but i do think that there is some possible truth in the link to alien beings visiting and populating the planet. Theres a lot of evidence to show the links, not 100% positive but the rest is imagination and thats always a good thing to have :-)

I'd quite happily get rid of all religion, but as susie says, "each to his own".

Interesting point from haggis, do you think aliens kicked cave men out of flying saucers?

Puts me in mind of the Erich Von Danikens books 'was God an astronaught' etc, I read these as an interested but sceptical youth! Funnily enough was discussing this with ducati during a coffee break last week!
