climate change

we don't hear so much about it now. it must be this warm weather that's to blame for the silence.

With much due respect and an ever increasing desire for this planet to last a few nanoseconds longer with all the hot air thou has exhaled could you not deal the world a favour and keep that gaseous great gob of thine tightly shut for a while !

I love it when you go all olde worlde on us Mr RR.
mrsbradey

We're all DOOMED according to Prof Brian Cox, last night on TV he said that the Earth is only going to last another 500 Billion years then the sun will be so close to it, that it will burn to a crisp!! Now thats Global Warming!!
susie

It's all rubbish isn't it? Years ago when the IPCC was in it's infancy a clever chap called Houghton was on it or even leading the panel. He wrote a book which pretty much rubbished the whole climate change idea. I also read that for every scientist that preaches the global warming scam there are at least 3 that don't believe it. The crux is that the scammers work for or are funded by huge, international companies that, no doubt, make trillions of dollars from the whole global warming industry that bas grown up from this idea.
The earth cools, the atmosphere warms ,if you believe the scientists garnering 'evidence' from machines reading the past, machines made by man! It keeps a huge amount of people in jobs and keeps the proles down.
Look how wrong they were about the hole in the ozone layer! It's almost back to how it usually is because it's cyclical. The thing is that they couldn't 'see' it in the olden days. Now they can, or so they say.

Saying its climate change is a bit like saying water is wet, the climate is constantly changing its the very nature of things we've had ice ages back in the dinosaurs reign it was a lot warmer than now so as we've dug up all the oil and coal and gas from way back then maybe we wil, go back to a similar climate

Good. I like the idea of living in a warm land with lots of trees and big, ugly hairy chaps rushing around stabbing dinosaurs.
mrsbradey

It's just a cycle, hot~ cold ~ hot ~ cold, and will go on for ever, well 500 billion years anyway!! Cool
ducati

OK, you're all nuts. If we take that as a premise, it's obvious to any sane person, that man made climate change is real.

Good luck doing anything about it though. Shocked
mrsbradey

Yep, I think man is definately helping with the 'cycle' though!!

Probably something to do with all those massive V8's in Yankee Doodleville!!

More likely fridges in India and China. But..if we are careering towards the end of the world, we might as well look cool getting there!  Very Happy

Pray tell, what can we do about it?
cait

we can stop burning so much fossil fuel. we can stop destroying forests. we can plant new forests.
mrsbradey

But we all know that don't we, so why are we permitted to carry on doing it?
cait

it's taking a long time to develop alternatives.
susie

There's such a colossal amount of hot air about. No one can work in these conditions, it's against HSE guidelines

They're putting big electric fans on all the hills. When it gets too warm they will turn them on to cool us down.

Ther are already alternatives, simply turn stuff off and don't rely on electricity and gas so much!!
cait

i like my home comforts, i want to save the planet without reverting to the age of the caveman.

did you see that wind generated more electricity than nuclear recently? admittedly,  it was a rare one-off due a windy day with more nukes than usual powered down for servicing but it was good symbolically.

Would really be good if so called intelligent people referred to historical phases correctly....paleolothic and if youre going to label them it would be more appropriate to call them troglodytes as opposed to cavemen .
cait

no.

I like a sweet little history lesson Mr R, I like those old words.
Troglodytes troglodytes is a huge name for a cute little bird too. Funny how one of the smallest birds gets a great big rough name.

So 'they' say!!! Surprised
ducati

Well my wee solar panels have been doing alright this year. Cool

I'm developing a free to use heating system at the moment to replace expensive gas or oil. About half the cost of a boiler based system to install and virtually maintenance free for 10 to 15 years. No fuel or running costs.

Do you think there will be a market? All the components are available already.
cait

sounds great. Very Happy

have you had any problems with cold, cloudy, haary, windless days yet?

or do you have hydro too?
ducati

Yes and no, but I'm working on it.
cait

are you building a dam, diverting a burn or hunting a suitable hydro generator?
